I'm replacing the carbon seal on my 96 seadoo speedster and in the shop manual it says you need a special pair of pliers. Is there an alternative way to getting it off instead of buying these special pliers. Thanks.

Ok never mind on the previous question, I got the clamps off, but the next step in the shop manual it says I need to push the stainless steel piece toward the back of the boat and remove the o rings. On my boat this piece is stuck and will not budge. Are there any tips or tricks to loosen it?

I tapped mine back with a small hammer. And since everything was apart I retrofit it with a seal carrier. I picked up the carrier here onlyseadoo.com

It will tap backwards toward the outdrive and uncover the o-ring seals and whatever corrosion or mung exists.
If you are replacing the SS flange anyway (I did), you can tap it harder (didn't have to).
