I recently purchased a 97 Speedster. The boat is having difficulty accelerating and getting on plane. One of the engines usually stalls when I lay down the throttle. I have to be pretty deliberate with the throttles to get it to plane. Once cruising the boat performs well. I would like to be able to pull skiers but it would be practically impossible with this performance issue. Any ideas?

It sounds to me like the symptom of a clogged up dirty carb. If you give it gas all of the sudden it lays down and passes out 'cuz it isn't getting any gas through but it opens up the throttle plates which allow all the air into the engine. Since you just got the boat and don't likely know the service history I would take the carbs off one at a time and do a thorough disassembly, cleaning, and re-assemble. If you wanted to try something a bit quicker and easier you might try running some SeaFoam or carb cleaner directly into the carbs with the engine running and slowly add more until you stall the engine, then let it sit for a bit. I would also add a good carb cleaner to the gas tank and try running that through. Just dumping SeaFoam down the throat of the carbs doesn't get it to flow through all the jets and passageways and such where gas is notorious for varnishing up and gumming up everything. If a carb re-build is too much for you you could probly take the carbs off and take them to a jet-ski shop and have them re-built too. Good luck and keep us posted on your success. Anybody else have any guesses to what the problem might be?

It could be one or more of a bunch of things ,,,Dirty carb, blocked up fuel filter pinched fuel line or tank fuel vent line ...Bad plug or wires...Ign module.....Best Idea is to get a manual and follow the troubleshooting guide in it and start ruling things out
You could also have something stuck in your pump
The list goes on
