Hello, I am looking at the 2011 230 Wake, and I heard that the towers on the 2008 were shaky, but Kevin tells me they have redesigned them. So, I am looking for feedback from current 2011 Wake owners, and any feedback at all about any problems at all would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
James

James,
I spoke with BRP and here are some of the big advantages in the new tower design:
I spoke with BRP and here are some of the big advantages in the new tower design:
- 2-point mounting system w/ die cast mounts improve stiffness in the boat / tower connection
- Increased "camber" (angle of the tower sides when looking at the boat from the front or rear) increases lateral stiffness.
- Double bows increase overall stiffness of the towers.
- Bolted joints vs welded joints eliminate the risk of fatigue cracks in welds
- Tubing diameter & wall thickness increase vs. <MY10 increases lateral stiffness
- Forward tow point decreases lateral loads on the back of the boat thereby improving wake
- Tower sections anodized after welding (before the tubing was anodized before welding) improves weld quality.
- Cam Latch system makes collapsing easy and the joint secure.

Just bought a 2011 wake 230 and have been out twice. Stepped up from Challenger 180 that I had installed a tower on. It was a great boat for starters, but could not get enough wake even with 4 people and 920 lbs of ballast, so we upgraded to the 230. Wake is much better even without balast. Add the ballast and your flying prety high without much effort. The tower is rock solid. great design, clean lines and no wobble/shake or anything of that nature. I am very happy- I like the new design.

I have a 2007 230 wake. Could I upgrade to this tower without serious modifications?
