I have a 2001 Challenger 2000 with the 210hp Mercury Optimax engine and recently had it serviced at which time I was told to start using Mercury Optimax synthetic blend 2 stroke outboard oil. The question I have is that it clearly states on the bottle that this is not to be used on engines that require TC-W3 oil. The sticker and manaul for the boat says that you need to use TC-W3 oil.
I have been told by the mechanic that the oil provided is good. Can anyone please tell me if this is true. I don't wnat to experience any expensive issues.
Thanks,

Mercury Optimax 210ho Injector Oil

Welcome to the site. I do not know much about the Mercury synthetic oil, but my gut tells me to stick with the TC-W3 oil.
We also ran TC-W3 in our Mercury 240 EFI when we had our 160 Speedster. We always went with Pennzoil from Walmart at a good price, http://www.walmart.c...-1-Gal/16401577

Thanks Kevin.
The dealer is telling me that this is what is presently in the boat after a recent repair. Our previous dealer did a water test this spring a forgot to put oil in the jet drive which did some damage resulting in a complete re-buil of the jet drive. I don't need any additional costly repairs as you can imagine.
Does anyone else have any advice?
