Hello all :-)

I just got back from Croatia with my brand new Speedster 150/255 (2010 model, no hours), unfortunately the holiday was marred by a bad storm which ripped the boat from its moorings and smashed it against the rocky beach and pontoon, scraping the entire bottom of the hull, destroying the rub rail and reverse mechanism, as well as countless other cosmetic bits of damage.

OK, so I need to get the reverse bits from SeaDoo, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the rub rail from, I want the exact same one I had. Also, part of the reason the boat was ripped from the mooring was that the bilge pump did NOT empty the water from the waves caused by the storm quickly enough, making the boat heavier and drag the mooring all the way to shore. Just a warning to others in case they think the bilge pump will scoop everything out, not likely, only rain water and the odd splash!

Some good news, despite being completely submerged for upto an hour, the engine started first time and runs perfectly well :-) All the electrics are fine and I am just trying to get things back the way they were. Fortunately one of the friends I was on holiday with owns a factory making custom GRP parts for vintage cars, quad bikes, roof boxes and things like that, so he promised to fix the entire bottom hull for me. Nothing is broken all the way through and despite the damage to the reverse, we managed to enjoy the rest of the holiday with the boat.

I realise that I can buy the rub rail directly from Sea Doo, however, I also know that many of their parts are not made by them (like the blowers, locks, cleats, grab handles) etc etc and these are made by other people and bought in. When they sell them as spares, the margin is enormous. For example, the blower from Detmar corp costs $20 in the states. The same blower retails from BRP/Sea Doo at £100, which is 8 times as much! If someone knows the exact manufacturer of the rub rail and trim, I would be very grateful!

Looking at http://eaglemoulding...ubRailTrim.aspx it seems like the product I need is V-2078 BK along with the trim, but I would love to know for sure...

Wow, sounds like a hectic time but I am glad to hear the boat started up. The rub rail seems like it would work to me. Keep us posted on your findings and progress throughout the repair.

Would love to see some pics during the repair process.

I have some photos now of the damaged boat and the hull has now been repaired. The rub rail (original) trim only has been ordered, we decided not to bother replacing all the rivets and attaching a new bumper, it is only damaged in 2 places and can probably be damaged with car trim repair kit. The reverse gate has been ordered and the other minor parts are also on the way.

The reverse gate is cracked with parts missing, as you can see here.

Now this isn't the extent of the damage, the bottom of the boat was terrible, although I didn't photograph it (these photos were to identify the parts with the SeaDoo dealer, so they didn't need to see the hull) and I am not sure I have any photos of that damage and now the work has been done. Managed to muddle through with the little parts as well by buying from the OEM rather than the SeaDoo ones. I haven't seen the repaired boat yet, but I hope to soon :-) I want to get her on the water again this year...
