We had pretty much decided on the 210SP (versus the 210SE) - and then we read in the brochure that the height of the boat on the trailer with the tower folded is 8'.

We live about a mile from the boat launch we expect to use most of the time, so our plan was to have the boat in the garage ready whenever weather and work allowed. Not having to take a cover off an on every time will definately make it a bit more inviting to hop on the water.

However, we have a standard height garage door (7' high clearance).

Are we out of luck getting a 210SP in the garage?

We didn't consider looking at it with the tower down at the dealer - but from the photos we've seen on line, it certainly didn't appear that when folded it took up another 2' above the windshield.

with the tower down, I think it is about 2' above the windshield. It is lower when you do not use the brackets that hold the tower in the folded position.

Fitting into your garage would make everything much easier for you.

Because of the new tower design it was one of the deciding factors of why we chose to go with a 2010 rather than the 2011, the older tower folds towards the transom instead of towards the windshield allowing us to fit it in our standard garage.

I spoke with BRP about this when they launched the new tower design as it was a huge concern for us, but as you stated the specs state 8' so the way we read it, it will not fit.

I will say I have not actually tried since we do not have a boat with the newer tower that we can try to squeeze into our garage. When purchasing a boat at this cost it was not a risk we were willing to take so we chose the 2010 model to be sure.

It definitely would of been nice to have the newer tower because it is much easier to collapse but it does not seem practical for those of use wanting to store it in a standard garage still.

Keep us posted if you give it a try, as I am really interested to know if it will clear.

By chance - do you recall when you took this if it appeared to be 2'above the windshield?

One thing to watch out for when measuring it for the garage is to take into consideration the length of the boat that will be hanging over the trailer. I didn't. I went strictly by the length of the trailer with folded tongue. So to account for the extra length, I have to put the boat in the garage at a slight angle, rather than straight in. With the longer boat, I would imagine there is more hang-over.

Hmmm, good thing to consider. I was understanding the "length on trailer with folded tongue" dimension accounted for this.

I just got a response back from one of the dealers we visited that has the 210SP in stock. He confirmed that in order to be under 7', the tower has to be removed from the boat. Folded, it is just under 8'.

Seeing that the 210SE is spec'd at 6'11 on the trailer - I guess it would make sense that with the current tower design, folded it wouldn't fit through a 7' door.

Bummer.

Having it in the garage was really ideal. Although we have a wider driveway, it's not a full 3 cars wide -so leaving it in the driveway is not a realistic option for convenience - either for parking other vehicles in the driveway, or for keeping the boat and contents protected and secure.

I guess we'll need to reconsider the SE model.

I do not believe it was a full 2' but it was close, probably more like a 1' 6".

It is a bracket that attaches to the stern side of the tower and prevents the tower from touching the windshield. Without them, the tower will sit on the windshield resulting in a lower clearance of a couple of inches.
