Hello all,
Was trying to pull a skier yesturday in my 18ft Challenger with the supercharged engine.
The boat did not have enough power to pull a skier out of the water even on two skis! (had two adults and two children in the boat)
It almost seems as if the boat isn't sucking enough water, and it was cavitating quite bad.
I have changed the wear ring and this did not solve the problem.
The boat also does this during take off if you push the throttle to the full postion the boat does not have the power it should and the engine will start cavitating. You actually have to pull the throttle back to get the engine to stop cavitating and get power. Plus the RPMs are 8000 the maximum they can go.
It also seems as if the jet is spraying to much water which could be the or part of the problem.
And it seems to go through gas very, very quickly.
Anyone else had this problem?
Would love any suggestions to solve this problem.
Thank you.
2005 18' Challenger

Might be time for a new impeller too, give Solas a look. They have some nice upgrades for the stock impeller.

yes something is wrong. I pulled up a 200lb wakeboarder with over 2,000lbs of weight in my boat. Get it checked out.
