I own a 2009 150 speedster 255 hp. I presently have 35 hours on it. I am disappointed with the top speed of only 55.6 mph (gps). I was on the lake yesterday with perfect weather conditions. No wind, water was calm. No passengers. Minimum cargo. Full tank of fuel(premium), and tried again with half tank of fuel. Cannot exceed 55 mph. This boat was advertised with a top speed of 63 mph. I would like to know how to achieve this. Has anyone out there been able to hit 63 mph?
Top speed of the 150 speedster

Unfortunately there are many variables so I am not sure that anyone will be able to give you the exact recipe.

I have an 07 150 Speedster 215 HP SC. Shortly after I got it I tried it out and got to 63 - 65 mph, but backed off 'cause it was near top RPM.
Later I found that Michigan has an inland waters speed limit of 55, so I don't push it above that, and usually I go much slower.

I should have mentioned this earlier. I left out I have a tower and tower speakers. I wonder if this is effecting my top speed? (weight and drag). I am considering taking those off for a day and see if that makes a difference. Sounds like alot of work though.

yes of coarse the tower and speakers make a difference...the aerodynamics of the boat change when you put this on it...i have an 03 that i purchased without a tower and put one on....we gained about 5-10 mph depending on water...seems to help if there is a little tiny chop to help get air under the hull....if you look at a stepped hull boat this this the purpose to make it faster on the water...also to get bettery fuel economy...hope this helps..

Curious to what rpm your boat is running at top speed?

8000rpm. I've had it up to 8150, but this is not recommended in the manual. You should not exceed 8050 rpm. Maximum speed is 56.3 mph (gps). 73 hrs on hour meter. No change from 10 hour break-in.
