I have used a gps against my speedo on my 2010 Speedster 150. The speedo is off by 6 mph. Has anyone else seen this? I expected probably 3 mph. Also, the best performance with 2 people on board I have seen is 46 mph. Does this sound correct? Its not the 255 hsp motor but I was guessing at about 50 mph for this boat. Please give me your feedback. Thanks RKB

The speedos vary in accuracy. Mine reads about 2 MPH lower than the GPS. The one on my SkiDoo reads about 8 MPH high. I have heard of some being off more than 10 MPH that's why they are sometimes called the dream o meter.

I guess the answer to boat speedos is just install a gps speedometer if you want any accuracy huh?

Why does everyone assume the GPS is giving a more accurate speed reading? It's calculation of speed is effected by numerous outside forces and countless calculations. The speedo in the boat or in your car is checking how fast a wheel spins.
My car GPS, as well as both of my hand held GPS units routinely give conflicting readings of speed.

You may have a point of accuracy on GPS. I guess it's just something we all know and use and are able to compare "apple to apples.
