I'm looking at used Sea-doo boats and it seems that over the years, that the names mean totally different configurations. Does, for instance, 'Challenger' relate to twin engines? I know it is not size...Challenger models have ranged from 15' to 23'. What makes a Challenger different from a Speedster/Sporster/Utopia over the model years? Or do they just swap names to confuse us newbies???
Sea-Doos naming convention got me confused

You are correct. They have used the name challenger on boats of different sizes. It usually is the bigger pleasure type boats but it was also used on the 14ft boats some. Usually the twin engine boats are the speedsters, but they also have twin engine challengers. So they arent very consistent and mix it up a lot. Best thing to do is figure out what size boat you want and then go from there. Or figure out your price range and then see what you can find.

The names seem mixable to me.
I thought I just bought a 1998 Sportster 1800 and downloaded the manuals for it here. The boat in the Sportster manual does not look like mine. They reference a Challenger that looks more like it. The controls on the dashboard more resemble the 1999 version. I really don't know what it is.
