Hey guys i was leaving the lake today and stopped to check everything before i hit the highway and i noticed a crack in my gelcoat on the bottom of my speedster...i called the dealer they said it wouldnt be warranty(which is pissing me off) and brp wont help..so im getting a couple qoutes to fix and some are saying it can be fixed easy others and saying its a big repair...anyone have any experience with this
one of my friends said he had this on his rxp and he used gelcoat.ca stuff and it matched perfect and had no other issues so i may try that but not sure

here is a pic of what i got there looks to be no sructure damage to the fiberglass but it is exposed..

Thats not a crack or defect in anything from the manufacturer. That is a gouge in the gel cote from hitting something like a dock. ITs easy to fix yourself. Buy the kit from gelcoat.ca They are the OEM provider for Sea Doo and will match perfectly. Read up on how to do gel cote repair and watch videos on youtube. It is very easy to fix yourself. You wont even be able to tell it was there when it is fixed.

Go slow and dont use too much. The stuff hardens like concrete and you will be sanding all day if you use too much.

Just to add more for you to convince you not to pay someone else. That is about a 3 or 4 hour fix. 2 of that is waiting for it to dry. Here is a quick rundown of the process. You buy the repair kit that runs like 30 bucks plus 20 for shipping. Then buy the sandpaper because they dont give you enough. You will spend less than 75 bucks total.

1. Tape off the area around that. Leave a little border.
2. Mix up the gel cote and hardener in something you dont mind throwing away. I used a glass baby food jar.
3. Use a small paint brush (i bought one for like 2 bucks at a hobby store) to apply the gel cote. Fill in the bad spot and the surrounding area.
4. The kit comes with a small piece of plastic, but I used wax paper. Cover the area you just applied gel cote. Smooth it out with a credit card.
5. Take a 2 hour break and drink a couple adult beverages.
6. Remove wax paper.
7. Sand rough area down. I initially used a drywall sanding block because i applied way too much.
8. Wet sand with 1000 grit, then 1500, then finally 2000.
9. Buff with rubbing compound.
10. Wax with favorite marine wax

Voila!!!! Looks brand new.

Yep, what RFoster said, piece of cake do it yourself, gel coat repair is very common even on the assembly line, so chances are your boat has already been repaired numerous times before it even left the factory (I work in the fiberglass industry).
