Hey I brought a great Seadoo 180SE 08 with 40 hour for a great price, Had it out a few times and made the famous rope in the intake mistake. My sister was the spotter and the boys were ready I put the boat into gear and the engine stopped, and she said the rope was stuck. I made several attempt to free the rope, but after about thirty minutes of one to two min of driving under the boat. I was ready to cut the rope and should have, but I got towed, then loaded onto the trailer, once home I cut the rope and removed the intake grate, it was a breeze to get it out I was able to un-winded the rope. Lucky it didn't end up in the impeller. I also did not see any signs of damage to the shaft. Well, lesson learned I put the grate back on and put silicon in the front bolt?
I take it the engine shut down is this a design feature to prevent engine damage?
Does a wake tower reduce the chances of this happening?
Is there anything I should check before taking her out again?

Welcome. I would check the condition of the wear ring before you take it out again.
