Hey all,
First off, i am not new to boating or the sport at all, i have been riding and racing pwc's for 10+ years and have been on the water my entire life. For a few years now i have wanted to pick up a sport boat however, my search long for a good condition boat for simply taking out the girlfriend/friends while the race skis are parked has ended. I stumbled across a MINT very low hour garage kept 2001 Challenger with the twin 720's this past weekend for a steal of a deal and i just could not pass it up. Its bone stock and the only problem so far is the gas gauge goes not work which, i am not worried about. However, i am worried about the oil injection system and had a few questions regarding it and impellers / wear rings.
1) Riva Racing sells oil block off kits for the 720 PWC's and i was curious if that is the same part needed for my boat? I am assuming that almost any 720 pwc part will fit the challenger and that the 720 motor platforms are the same? I am honestly not comfortable with the injection system and want to do the premix conversions for reliability.
2) Regarding impellers and wear rings, its going to need them both on both motors to be replaced because i am getting pretty major cavitation on both when trying to plain out. But, i am having a hard time finding a site the sells/has info on the parts needed. The wear rings are relatively easy to find but, i cant seem to find impellers other than stock ones which are crazy expensive. Anyone know of a good place to find the impellers/info on what size/pitch i need?
Thanks in advance for the replies and happy boating!!!

Welcome to the site. To address your questions.
1) I would recommend giving Riva a call and pose this question directly to them so you can get the answer "straight from the horses mouth" as they say. This way their is no assumptions made.
2) Two places for impellers are Impros (http://impros.com/) and Solas (http://www.solas.com/). As with Riva I would recommend giving these guys a call and see what they recommend for your boat.
Keep us posted.

From what riva, sbt and other info that i can gather, the block off kits are the same for all 720 model motors. The funny thing is that i was surprised last night when i took off the intakes to find that they are single carb motors. I have owned many older 720 xp pwc's which in stock form all came with twin carbs. Interesting but, they will get the job done i guess!
As far a props and wear rings, SBT sells upgraded derlin plastic vs. injected molded wear rings for fairly cheap. They also do a exchange program on props and send me factory refurbished ones for 60 bucks each when i send them my cores! Not too bad
My only other concern is that i cant find hardly any sites with general info on these boats. Tons of info on the 18 ft and 20ft models but, not for the 15. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Darren
