Hi,
I would like to put in a 2nd battery dedicated to the stereo. Any suggestions as to best location? I don't want to put it up in the nice big front nose compartment. Anyone done this? Suggestions? I'm going to take the boat in to have them create a fiberglass mounting area to install the battery box, but was hoping to get opinions as to the best spot in the boat. There seems to be no room in the engine compartment.
Opinions appreciated!
Darren

Thanks for the link kseroski70. I have done a 2nd battery set up in my last boat (97 Challenger 1800). My problem with my current boat is finding a space large enough to put a 2nd battery besides the nose compartment.

Here is what I did:
Not enough room on portside for 31 size batt, but room for the engine batt so I moved the comp on the portside up onto the ledge just like the comp on starboard side. Then put the starting battery on that side. This left the starboard side open and it was large enough for the size 31 deep cycle battery.

Sounds like you got it figured out. I was looking to doo the same thing on my 2010 Speedster 200, but in the end I got one of those portable booster battery packs and just store it with my other gear in the nose (I use a rubbermaid bin in there that fits great and doesn't move). If myself "or" someone else kills the battery just grab it, clamp the jumpers, and good to go.
FWIW I have ran my Alpine setup w/ in-line amp off only the stock battery for about 5hrs with no issue re-starting. So for me it's just piece of mind knowing it's there.
