The Sea-Doo Speedster SK is a fun affordable mid-sized jetboat with good ski boat features. The wakeboarder in the family will love the standard five-foot ski pylon extension that will allow them to catch big air. Since there are no propellers, the driver and skier can feel at ease and safe when getting off and on the jetboat.
Padded bucket seats and grab rails keep everyone secure when carving into tight turns. The throttles and shifter are just like you’d find on a bigger boat, and reverse is standard.
At low speeds, Sea-Doo’s Control Steering System (CSS) helps out by automatically increasing RPM water flow through the pump for better control. The SK’s deep-V, multi-chine hull is designed for excellent tracking while you are towing a skier behind.
The SK’s twin 720 Series Bombardier Rotax water jet pumps combine to produce 170-hp, and they are tuned to provide optimal low-end torque, which is essential in getting skiers out of the water.
Our test boat had a top end speed of 47.4 mph at 6740 rpm, and best cruise was at 28.2 mph at 5000 rpm. With her 40-gallon tank she’s good for a cruising range of 96 miles.
The Speedster SK is an attractable and affordable jetboat that that is sure to turn some heads out on the water.
Overview
The new Sea-Doo Speedster SK is a fun mid-sized jetboat with good ski boat features. If you have a waterskier or wakeboarder in the family this is one boat you'll have to look into.
Background
The SK is built on the same proven 16-foot, six-inch hull platform as the open-bow Speedster that Sea-Doo introduced in ’99.
Key Features
There is of course a standard towing eye for all the water lovers in the family and a retractable boarding ladder allows everyone to get back on board easily and safely. A watertight enclosed bow locker holds skis, boards, wetsuits and more. The helm station has an adjustable mirror for watching skiers plus a special tournament-style speedo that’s calibrated to show the best speeds for pulling wakeboarders or skiers. Reverse is standard on this boat for those tricky situations and tight corners, and the new control steering system gives you an extra RPM boost around the docks. And best of all this hot rod even comes with its own matching trailer.
