Hi Guys,
I have found both boat with fair price (4500$ for the 97 and 7000$ for the 03)...the vendor of the 03 claim that the challenger 97 engine (110 hp 800 Rotax)is too small for the boat resulting in an overridding of the engine when playing in the water, especially to get out 200lbs skiiers and multi-peoples inflated trips... He argue that the way the engine is built, it get wear more easyly and that with time, the motor is just finished (not talking about the pistons but about the parts in teh engine).
What do you think? Is it possible to have in 2011 a good 1997 boat? Or better to go with the 2003 LE DI ...the goa lf the boat is to have fun with the kids for the enxt three seasons and then to sell back the boat.
Thanks in advance for any advice about the mechanic of the boat, their power and the fuel cunsumption.

Welcome to the site. To answer you question, yes I think you can have a good 1997 boat in 2011 if it was properly maintained. Personally I would go with the newer 2003 model just because of the larger engine and horsepower option. Keep us posted on your decision.

the 97 challenger with the 800 engine and the trim with all its hassles and never ending cavitation was a lemon ....go with the Di ....much better boat
