I want to buy a boat this season, and i looked at the 210sp and the 230sp. When all was said and done, I figured the 210sp was a better fit for my budget. My concern is in the chop. I was told the 230sp would be better, because it's longer. I wanted to know if there would be that much of a difference, as both boats seem to be fairly close in weight.
The only boat i've ever been on was a 25' master craft, so I have nothing to compare it to. Any advise would be appreciated. I will be using it with my wife and kids (2y and 4y old) for trips to the statue of liberty and just a day on the water. I will also be using it for tubing and wake boarding.

Ron,
I completely understand where you are coming from and this was one of the many reasons why we also opted for the 21ft over the 23ft, budget.
I think the 210SP would be an excellent choice for what you are describing. The first time I drove the 210 series was down at the 2011 BRP Press event - we tested the boat in the waters off of Stuart, FL. I spent most of my time in both 210SP and 230SP. The 230SP did feel that it handled the chop just a little better than the 210SP, but that is because of the extra length it has over the 210. Overall I didn't feel it was a significant difference that we "must" go with the 230 over the 210. In all honesty, both the 210 and 230 handled the chop even better than I expected.
Us coming from a 180 Challenger, it is a significant improvement in ride quality. If you were going for anything under the 200 series then I would say be careful especially due to the condition of the waters you will be spending most of your time. Prior to our 180 Challenger we had a 160 Speedster - the ride quality obviously improves the larger the boat gets. For us, we were tired of getting "beat up" on the water. In my opinion the 180 series and below are more suited for lake conditions (minimal chop) whereas the 200 series are suited for both lake and bay/ocean conditions (more chop).
Some people have more of a tolerance for the chop and getting bounced around, we had those fun days in our 160 Speedster but it was time for us to get something more suitable for a family since we have a 16mo old. The 210 was the answer for us.
If you would like to see a few videos of the 210SP and 230SP in action, check our amateur footage at the 2011 press event in our Youtube channel, http://www.youtube.c...eadoosportboats.
Keep us posted on your decision!
