28 downloadsI am also getting more serious about wakeboarding which is why we went for the 210 Wake, I have yet to actually wakeboard behind our boat though. I did however wakeboard behind the 2011 210 SP at the 2011 BRP press event in Florida. I was very happy with the wake created behind that boat so it is ultimately what helped me make our decision to get a 210 Wake. Below is a short video of me wakeboarding behind the 210 SP, sorry we were more interested in the "ski-mode" so you will only see me and the wake for a brief moment.
As far as how it compares to a "traditional" wakeboard boat there definitely are some differences and a lot of critics will say our 210 Wake is not a "real" wakeboard boat. Personally I am okay with that because I am by no means a professional wakeboarder and don't intend on ever being one. The 210 Wake just makes more sense because of its overall versatility that still gets the job of wakeboarding done very well. We much prefer the jet drive because of its safety advantages and its maneuverability, something where a stern drive just doesn't stack up. I also feel like you get a lot more "bang for your buck" on the 210 Wake over a boat offered by Moomba, Supra, Tige, Mastercraft, CorrectCraft, Malibu, etc. I have driven and wakeboarded behind both a Moomba Mobius 21 LSV and CorrectCraft 210 Air Nautique. Even after those experiences I still prefer the 210 Wake.
To further elaborate why we chose the 210 Wake over the 210 SP, well for us it was mainly for the more powerful engines. The 310hp in the 210 SP felt very strong when I drove it and wakeboarded behind it, but we just like having the extra power if needed. We also chose the 210 Wake over the 210 SP because while the wake was nice behind the 210 SP we felt it could only get better with the extra 600lbs of ballast. Sure you could just buy your own ballast or fill the boat up with people to create the same effect, but in our case we tend to go out with only a few people so the ballast will come in handy as already being setup in the boat with a fill/drain switch on the helm.
Lastly can I wakesurf behind the 210 Wake, well I haven't tried it yet since we haven't even had our boat in the water yet. Our lake is drained during the off-season so it will be next season until we get any real face time behind it. However, check out the video below - those guys are doing a bit of wakesurfing behind the 210 Wake. If you primarily are going to wakesurf you might opt for the 210 Wake over the 210 SP for the sole reason of the wakeboost system (600lbs ballast). I am sure the ballast will be a lot better for wakesurfing.
