Just ordered a new 2011 Speedster 150 with the 255hp engine at the Nashville Boat Show. The reason I did it at the boat show was because BRP was there and they were offering a 4 year BEST warranty for boat sales done at the show. So that is a total of 5 years of warranty.
I have a 2007 Speedster 150 with the 215hp engine. I bought is used (therefore no warranty) with only 16 hours on it. But the second weekend on the water it had a major oil leak from some seal around the oil pump. I can't explain the specifics of the leak and the area of the seal. I had a very good dealer fix it and it cost just over $700. The seal and everything should be OK from this point forward and the mechanic says the boat is in great shape, but I still don't trust having this boat without a warranty at this point.
So I am going to upgrade and get the 5 years of protection.
If anyone is thinking about a new boat I suggest you try to get to a major boat show in your area. Apparently BRP offers this BEST deal at the big boat shows, but not the small shows.

Picked up the new 2011 Speedster yesterday. Did not get it on the water yet. The immediate thing I noticed was the major improvement to the tower, compared to the tower on my 2007. After seeing the boat and doing more research it seems like this nicer tower started with the 2010 model year. The crazy thing is that SeaDoo does not advertise that the tower is improved and the website pictures still show images of the tower style from 2009!?
It's more sturdy, nicer lines because there are less crossing supports. It should vibrate less because the back mounting bracket is bigger and more "fixed" even though it hinges to collapse the tower. The back posts are 2 inch diameter (I think) so they will be compatible with other after market wakeboard racks, I chose to have the SeaDoo racks installed by the dealer. At the sides there is no longer that low crossing brace so getting into the boat from the side under the the tower will be easier. The bimini has a larger surface area for more Sun protection at it seems to me that it is lower to the deck than in the previous model years. The rear navigation light is now mounted on the top of the tower in front of the rope tow ring so no light is stored under the back hatch.
The other thing that I will appreciate (versus the 2007) is the fact that the battery cutoff swith is at the helm and not under the back hatch. The radio has a front panel AUX input for MP3 players and the back of the radio is prewired for an iPod, although you would have to buy the adapter cable. If you were to use an MP3 with the AUX input I am not sure where you would put it, like wise for the iPod. There is not going to be a good place to store the devices while they are plugged in?
The only other difference I could immediately see is that the ski locker door is supported by a hydraulic lifter not the bending spring technique.
In the engine compartment there are some changes. The intercooler is not built into the front of the engine any longer. It is a seperate unit mounted behind the engine, the mechanic mentioned that this was done to get improved cooling. And it appears to me that the exhaust system is re-engineered.
So that is my first quick overview. Sorry about the single poor picture taken while still at the dealer.

So, how is the new boat? I actually have the 2007 Speedster 150, and I am glad to hear of the new changes for the tower. I have been relatively unpleased with the amount of movement the tower makes, as well as the breakdown of the tower, as I have to take it down every time I store it. My tower actually has a rattle, which seems to come from the rear portside mounting bolt. It seems to be hitting the inside of the tower tubing. Good luck with the new boat. If you ever get down to Lake Martin, please let me know.
