I have a 2008 180 Challenger SE. I get water in the ski storage compartment while on the lake.
There are 3 drain holes in the bottom of the compartment. I bought the boat used and think the
original owner added the 2 extra drain holes. Water from the hull washes back into the compartment.
I have a tower with wakeboard and kneeboard holders so I don't store them down there. I would like
to store my life jackets down there and keep them dry.
I there supposed to be 1, 2 or 3 drain holes in this compartment?
Can I install a drain plug to keep it dry down there?
Thanks

Our 180 Challenger was notorious for water down there too and from what I have read from other owners of this boat it is a common problem. With the bow design of the 2008 180 Challenger a lot of water typically comes over the bow which ends up in the ski locker. We found that the drain hole in our ski locker often got clogged with foam and I would push it out with a close hanger or something of the sort. I imagine you can try adding additional drain holes but because of the bow design I find that it will be difficult for you to keep anything very dry in there. Keep us posted if you come a up with a workable solution.

I have a 2010 180 and it drains fine when I wash it. It only has 1 drain at the back of the locker.

Thanks...Mine has 3 drain holes, so I guess the previous owner added the 2 extra holes.
A little overkill. I think I will seal off the outer 2 holes and try a drain plug in the center one.
Thanks for the replies.

Mine is a 2008 also and it has three drains. I was actually looking at it this weekend to try and figure it out. When you tilt the bow up the water drains out of the ski locker into the bilge. If you tilt the bow down the water flows into the ski locker from the bilge. There is no fix for me because i run so much ballast weight there is no way to keep water out of my boat because it sits sooo low in the water. If you are running no weight you can try to plug those holes and hope for no water over the bow. When you close the lid to the ski locker the lid is not water tight though. The bilge area in my boat always has water in there. If there is water in there the ski locker will have wate in it too when you take it out on the water.
