Hey there everyone, proud new boat owner. Wife and kids treated me to a 2006 Islandia for my 40th Birthday. Very proud, she is clean as could be and only 50 hours. Problem is, we have taken it out several time and several times we have limped back to the dock with clogged intakes...? Thick grass the first time, a small two inch stick the second time, and last in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, a baseball hat. I am not ready to give up and sell her yet, but really, really frustrated with what seams to be very inadequate grating to protect the props. I have researched and found out that I think 2006 was the only year for the ICS system and then it was removed for the 2007 year because of major issues and it was not working as designed. Mine is currently not working either, the system just makes a small noise in the engine compartment like it is trying to work, but does not come down. Either way, I am wondering if anyone has any similar issues with the 2006 and if there is any hope in finding an aftermarket grate system that I could use so I don't have to be embarrased again when I take friends out on my new boat and we break down and have to limp back home... getting desperate and have lost the thrill of new boat ownership so really hope someone can offer some light at the end of the tunnel.

2006 Islandia ICS system and intake grates

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the website, that is a nice birthday present! ICS has always been a big problem, check this post which contains a list of other links for your to read up on some of this issues with ICS.

As far as dealing with the weeds you could look at getting an aftermarket grate, this might make a difference.

So it seems the consensus is to remove the fuse for the ICS system. Great, can do that, but the three tines are not enough protection. The links are all for the older Mercury engines. Anyone have any aftermarket ideas for a new stainless grate for a 2006 Islandia? Have to figure out something soon, this is so frustrating.

Most of the ones I have seen are for the Merc engines, hopefully someone else can chime in who seen them offered for the Rotax engines.
