Documented speed in my books is..............drumroll..................................200mph!!!! jk....I get between 60 and 70mph on the waterometer....what it really translates too....don't know and don't care because I know its quick and there are not too many Jetskis that can keep up!!Can anyone tell me what the official documented top speed is of a 2004 160 Speedster, and is it faster than the new 200?
I think the 200 is equal too but not faster than the 160 although if you DOO the math on the weight, HP, etc... you would think its faster. Many other factors too consider such as Hull lenght, trim settings etc...
Race one and see...........then let me know so I can bug the 200 owners!!

I have found that my Doo speedo is fairly accurate at slower speeds.... up to around 35 MPH, then accuracy falls off. The speedo seems to climb more rapidly than the GPS does. The fastest that I have got my 2000 160 up to on the SeaDoo speedometer was 67mph on a calm day.

My 2004 Speedster 160 has only 20 hours but I saw 63mph on my GPS. The speedo like the gas gauge is not accurate. Can anyone tell me what the official documented top speed is of a 2004 160 Speedster, and is it faster than the new 200?
My gas gauge says only 1/4 tank left and yet I can't get more than 12-14 gallons of gas in it. The gauge is useless and my dealer is not much better.

Where are you located and what dealer are you dealing with? Have you tried to actually call SeaDoo and address the problem with them?My gas gauge says only 1/4 tank left and yet I can't get more than 12-14 gallons of gas in it. The gauge is useless and my dealer is not much better.

Thanks guys (to all of you) for the replies. Also please disregard my 2nd send of this same topic/question. I could not find my orig question on this topic and thought it got lost in cyber space. Still a newbie - I guess. Thanks again. Got to go now to get her on the water. Later, Happy Dooing!Documented speed in my books is..............drumroll..................................200mph!!!! jk....I get between 60 and 70mph on the waterometer....what it really translates too....don't know and don't care because I know its quick and there are not too many Jetskis that can keep up!!Can anyone tell me what the official documented top speed is of a 2004 160 Speedster, and is it faster than the new 200?

Kevin, while I've got you here... I came across a net video of your Doo (was that yours?) 2nd part of the video showed an on coming view of you really sticking it - (full throttle) then, with no apparent warning, the bow came down abrutly and looked like you were going to flood. What caused this? You're welcome.

This isn't my boat but it is one the is identical to mine, it is a guy that goes by Stv over at JetBoating.net. This is what you call a serious sub-move. I have done this before in my DOO but not quite this extensive.

Kevin, Yes, that's the video I am referring to. Not that I would ever attempt that sub-move stunt, but what did the driver do with the controls to make the bow react the way it did? Just so I know what NOT to doo! Thanks again!I am assuming this is what you are referring too:

The technique 1st Doo is quite easy. Did a minor one last weekend. The wife's eyes got *real* big!Kevin, Yes, that's the video I am referring to. While travelling forward, quickly bring throttle all the way back to idle, pull F-N-R lever to reverse, and jump back into the throttle. The severity of the sub move will depend on how quick you are on the levers and how much throttle you give it.
Actually, it would probably behoove all of us to learn this technique. Why? Well, if one needs to do a panic stop for whatever reason, knowing how to do the so-called sub move would be a good skill to have in your hip pocket IMHO. To me it's the equivalent of practicing panic stops on my mo'sickle.

I called my dealer and they are clueless. They want me to drop it by and keep it for a while as they say they are busy. I asked them if they knew how to fix it and they said no but they would give it a try.Where are you located and what dealer are you dealing with? Have you tried to actually call SeaDoo and address the problem with them?My gas gauge says only 1/4 tank left and yet I can't get more than 12-14 gallons of gas in it. What would be the SeaDoo tech support number for the USA?

Hey All,Can anyone tell me what the official documented top speed is of a 2004 160 Speedster, and is it faster than the new 200?
What really is the top speed you guys are getting out of your 160'S ... 65-70 MPH? ... come on, NO way! I have a '99 Speedster with the twin 110's and I am lucky to get 50 MPH (GPS'd) on a really calm day. I'm thinking pretty seriously about buying a 160 next Summer .... does any one have a radar gun or GPS'd top speed?
I sure wish SeaDoo would come out with an 18' boat that looks similar to our Speedsters with the new 4-Tec's ... 310 HP in an 18' boat would ROCK!

Thanks TDa3, for outlining the sub-move technique for us. Maybe day if I'm feeling like Braveheart, I'll try it. Happy Dooing! The technique 1st Doo is quite easy. Did a minor one last weekend. The wife's eyes got *real* big!
