I was talkign with a dealer getting some prices and the dealer said they wont install the depth finder on an 08 speedster 150 because of the time involved... Anyone have any knowledge on how hard this is to get into.. I mean if a Sea-Doo dealer wont install it who will..

I used to work for a local stereo shop installing head units, amplifiers, speakers and remote starters. Someone like this is who you need to install the electronics, not some grease monkey (sorry if you work at a sea-doo dealership). I'm still a little upset with my local dealer. I took mine in the first week of April for or a pre-season 100-hr check. They called me and said there were some recalls and they needed to keep it longer than expected. I finally got it back Memorial Day weekend and it wouldn't start. The engine would fire and then immediately die. They told me they would need to order another key switch which would be $380 plus installation. Since it was Memorial day weekend and I wanted to get on the water, I took my boat to the local Mercury dealer and paid $50 for another key switch, which I changed out myself in their parking lot. This did not solve the problem. I got to looking and noticed a module behind the dash that I had never seen before, mainly because their wiring was horrible and instead of using heat shrink, all connections were covered with black electrical tape! I called the dealer back and they said this was a neutral safety switch they installed due to a safety recall. My boat worked fine before I took it there, and now it didn't, so I decided to do surgery and remove this little black box. I cut the ground wire and my boat fired right up!!!
I called the dealer back to let them know I wanted a diagram on how to install this properly and I would be installing it myself. That has been almost a month ago now, and I am still riding with it unhooked. Find an electronics installer and take them a wiring diagram for you boat, if possible. This is a very easy install, just power & ground up front, and one cable ran to the back.

My dealer charged me 1 hour to install the depth finder in my 07. Its easy to install, its all pre-wired. You do need a computer from the dealer to activate it.
