How much water should normally drain from the bilge plugs after a few hours of boating?
After I pull my boat from the water at least a half gallon of water comes out of the bilge after I remove the plugs. Is this normal?

I wouldn't consider a half gallon excessive. My 97 used to take on a good bit of water via the drive shaft seals, and would drain for quite a while after pulling the plug. Test your bilge pump automatic switch by putting the plug in and filling until the bilge operates. Do it by the half gallon or gallon to get an idea of how much water it takes to turn on the pump. The next time you are in the water, run the engine and see if you can spot any water leaks.
