Been a Doo owner for a few years now, but haven't had the chance to take her out much - only a handful of times to Lake Corpus Christi and a couple of times down the Intercoastal Waterway. Hopefully now that the drought is over down here, the lakes will stay full enough to keep the ramps open....
Had her out over the Memorial Day weekend and had a bad day...still better than a good day at work....
Wasn't paying attention as I was retreiving my 4 yr old grandson from the tube (which he was NOT impressed with) and wound up sucking the tow rope up into the intake....yeah yeah, turn the frigging motor off any time you stop, especially when towing....I knew that....luckily it just wrapped around the impeller shaft, so after a limp back in to the ramp and a little quick knife work, we were back out on the water.....albeit with a somewhat shorter tow rope.....
Then I wound up smacking the dock with the starboard bow and taking a small chunk out of the gel coat....I really need to practice close-in maneuvers....especially that backing thing where everything goes the opposite way you expect it to......
Anyway, bought some gel coat patch at West Marine...hopefully it works and isn't TOO noticeable....my biggest concern is getting water down under the gel coat layer and having it de-laminate.......
I attached a couple of pics of the ding, in case anyone is interested....I'll try to get some during- and after-pics to show how it turns out.

Welcome to the website, glad to have you here! Sorry to hear about your troubles over Memorial Day weekend but it sounds like you got everything back under control. We had something similar happen when we had our 160 Speedster. I used a product from Gelcote International, http://seadoosportbo...-international/.
Keep us posted, I hope the repair goes well. Looking forward to seeing the after pictures too!

Finally got it patched - actually patched it on Saturday, but I didn't have any 600 grit sandpaper. I bought some on the way home and got it finished and polished. Wasn't nearly as much trouble as I thought it would be - definitely worth the $40 ($35 for the gelcoat patch kit and $5 for the sandpaper).

Thanks - if you look REAL close at the second picture, you can see where I got a little aggressive with the 300 grit and left a little flat spot on the angle contour, but you pretty much have to know exactly where to look to see it.
On an 18 ft long, 8 ft wide, 4 ft high boat, I can live with a 1/2" long flat spot on an edge - especially in an area that nobody really looks at. But it's nice to know if I get an owie in a more noticable area, that I can fix it good as new....
