I bought a subscription so I could download the shop manual for my 97 challenger 1800 (well you didn't have the 97 so i downloaded the 98... should be the same)
I just got the boat, and one of the impellers is nicked up and the other side has a cracked wear ring... so i am thinking about just installing two new Sola impellers and replacing the wear rings
I read the shop manual for removing the impeller and everything, but i would like some feedback from people who have done this themselves (its one thing reading how to do it, but its another thing actually doing it)
If you have replaced an impeller yourself, was it hard? How long did it take approx? Were there any major problems you ran into that you didnt expect?
I appreciate the help guys!

I haven't replaced our impeller yet, but here is some more detailed instructions from the Impros website, http://impros.com/st...structions.html, it isn't your exact impeller but hopefully it should help. Keep us posted of the install with any pictures, it might be helpful if you could document the install and share it with others.

Its not hard,SBT has the best deal on impeller exchange. Also while in there, replace the wear ring[$35.00].The thing about any of this is Take Your Time. The impeller tool is about $15.00,also best to have a bench vise to set the [tanged end of the stubbed shaft]pump in while loosening impeller.Keep us posted, you can do it, I did. The thing about the wear ring is the less gap you have between the O.D. of the impeller and the I.D. of the W.R the better. More push in Yo Whoppy. Thats why its a jet, same thing as aircraft engines[I`m an A&P mech]. I have other things to say if interested post back. Thanks
