A potential buyer with cash in pocket fort my 98 sportster and the left engine runs like the plugs are fouled.I swapped plugs from the other engine(which ran fine)and it does the same thing. She starts right up and idles,(about 4000 rpm with a water hose hooked up,seems high to me)but wil not throttle up.She bogs when throttled up.It also is dumping rawfuel mix out the exhaust. It ran fine when I had it out 2 weeks ago.Any ideas? What could have gone wrong from sitting for 2 weeks? The buyer is still interested in the boat if I can get it up to snuff............Mike

Well, if you are running it on the hose, the high idle is normal, although I wouldn't say 4000 is right. Also, if the FNR lever is in N, it shouldn't rev past a certain point. It will bog because of the limiter. Put it in F, and try it again.
Is that fuel coming from the exhaust or cooling water from running it on the hose that smells like fuel/oil/exhaust? If it is fuel, pull the plugs and what do they look like?
