I just purchased an 09 Speedster 150 and noticed that the Forward/Neutral/Reverse lever does not make the reverse gate move.
Is this because it will only function with the motor running?
Also, there also appears to be a catch mechanism on the gate - is this for transporting the boat over the road.
Many thanks in advance.

The lever should make it move -- in our 180 Challenger the bucket moves in the appropriate positions as if the boat was running.
I am not sure what you mean by the catch mechanism, do you have a picture you can provide?

The gate should move whether the engine is running or not. The control cable may be disconnected at either end, or broken in the middle. I think this should be a warranty fix. As far as the catch mechanism on the gate, I think you are referring to a device that prevents the thrust of the jet from pushing the gate out of neutral. (I learned about this part when the pivot pin fell out of mine and the boat would not shift out of forward.)
Live long and prosper.
