I have a 1997 speedster(works fine) ,but my brother-in-law has one also that is given me problems. Brand new pump(factory) and props(Solas), but still capitates on take off bad. Having a hard time getting kids up on the tube. I read Triggermans retrofit and that seems to be the ticket. Also read about some of the problems that came along with it. Was wondering if someone had come up with the right combination? If so, what all do I need, where can I get it, and how do I install it? Not asking for much, huh. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

272000024 Carrier, x2
293350007 Bearing, x2
271000560 Hose ,x2
293200065 Seal x2 -- may have been superseded by a new seal number
293200012 Dbl Seal x2
You need to get either the recommended Bombardier synthetic grease or a good quality marine grade grease to lube these things.
The problem with the carriers I bought are:
They are designed differently from the original part and mount differently in the hose. You had to cut the OEM hose to 2" long to use these. The OEM seals are really snug on the driveshaft, and if you aren't extremely careful, you will tear them. Our shafts have a groove in them, the '95 didn't. The WSM carrier I bought was originally a part for a 1995 Seadoo HX pwc, and did not actually seal anything. It was used as a carrier for shaft support only. The HX had the carbon ring assembly right behind this carrier for sealing the shaft.
You can check into the replacement parts and prices for your current setup as well. The cost for either setup will run about the same, the difference being in the performance.
I have gone away from the setup I originally posted about and opted for an "experimental" carrier setup. The bearing has been left out and a carbon bushing installed in its place. No bearing to maintain, no worries if water happens to get inside the carrier. This would be especially handy if you boat in saltwater. The carriers I have now are custom made, as well as the bushings. I've got 13 hard hours on them so far, with no problems whatsoever. I can provide a contact for that setup, if interested.

I certainly appreciate you taking the time to help me with my problem. I believe for now I am going to replace my brother-in-laws parts for his boat with the stock parts, but I would like to know who to contact for the setup you now have for your boat. What my plan is to get the setup for my boat so I will have the hole shot on my racing rival(brother-in-law). Hope to talk again. I'll get that info for you. I would like to know whether or not the stock is going to perform the same as the custom, when the stock is all new parts.
