Hello
I'm looking for a new boat. Decided a jet boat is better than a prop for me.
Are Sea Doo and Yamaha the only two options?
http://yamahajetboat...php?f=1&t=26129
I was mostly leaning toward Yamaha when I came across this about Gel Coat cracks...
Seems Yamaha fiberglass may be too thin if gel coat is cracking so much.
Are there any Sea Doo owners with gel cracks showing in their boats?
How does the vinyl hold up in Sea Doo boats?
How do people think about the overall quality. I could read this entire site to find the problem threads, can anyone save me some time and point me to the worst threads.
Thanks a bunch!

We have owned two SeaDoo boats; the first being a 160 Speedster and now a 180 Challenger. The 160 Speedster had some stress cracks around the cleats -- but we believe this was due to someone who tied the boat up too tight in rough water, we filed a claim with SeaDoo and we were able to get them repaired under the five year hull warranty. In our 180 Challenger we haven't experienced any issues with the gelcote as of yet. As an fyi -- if you do have any type of gelcote issues you can do minor repairs yourself using the products from this company, http://www.gelcoat.ca/; we had to do a small repair here -- http://seadoosportbo...international/.
As far as the vinyl goes both boats have been real solid -- no signs of abnormal wear to the vinyl. We use 3M products to keep the vinyl in shape which helps with this; I am sure if you neglect it then you will see different results.
Being a consumer like you -- I have compared both the Yamaha boats and SeaDoo boats; personally I believe SeaDoo makes a better product (fit and finish). This is why we have owned two of their boats and run this website because we stand by their quality due to our own experiences.
