I have a 2003 Utopia 185 2.5L V6 200 hp. I keep blowing a 15 amp fuse (SmartCraft Data Bus Circuit). No beeping occurs, only the fuse blows and the engine shuts down. I have replaced the fuel pump. I was told by Mercury this fuse is only connected to the fuel pump and the battery. Any suggestions on what to replace next? What to check? Sometimes the boat runs a few minutes and sometimes up to 45 minutes before blowing the fuse. It always seems to blow at idle speeds.
Thank you...gibson ...Lima Peru

How old is your battery? Have you ran any tests on the battery to see if this might be causing problems?

I just purchased the boat. The boat looks brand new. The battery seems good and has cranking power, but no I have not ran any tests on it. Do you think the battery can have problems and still have good cranking power?

I would say it is possible -- something has to be pumping too much "juice" which is likely what is causing the fuse to blow. It also could be electrical -- so I would check that all the wires connecting everything are in good shape (no visible damage).

Have you check to make sure you are replacing with the correct size fuse? Someone might of used a smaller size before you.
