Hello. I just bought a brand new 2009 Challenger 180 SE. It has a sticker that shows a fire extinguisher in the forward left compartment but the compartment is empty. I asked the dealer about it and he said I could put it anywhere. So I bought one kind of surprised that the boat didn't come with one but wonder where you 2007 to 2009 Challenger 180 owners put your fire extinguishers. I think in plain sight next to the fuse compartment by the driver might be a good location too. Was the dealer supposed to put one in there???
Thank you.
Gerry
while my challenger is a little older then yours I have mine in my storage area infront of my steering wheel. but with your boat being bigger then mine mounting one on the outside is not to bad of an idea

Dont know if the dealer installed it there or the original owner did.

Your dealer should of included one if they gave you a coast guard kit (life vests, air horn, throw cushion, etc.).

I bought my 180SE brand new in august 07' and did not recieve a "coast gaurd kit". I had to buy everything to be legal on the water, including the fire extinguisher. Just by hapenstance, I put it in the front left compartment with tool kit. It has worked out really well for us there.
Thanks for the reply. I finally mounted the extinguisher today in the front bow (filler cushion) compartment. I will rarely go into that compartment while I was afraid of knocking it around or taking up too much room in the front left compartment where I will be putting life jackets etc. I put the CG throw cushion in there too and moved the fire extinguisher sticker to that compartment. I've never had to use a fire extinguisher on any of my boats before (or anyone else's) and hope that streak continues. We'll see how it goes.

In short, carry it anywhere you feel like it would be out of the way. That way, you're legal and you haven't wasted valuable cargo space.
