Hey Guys,

New 08 Challenger 180 SE owner here, and I took good spill on the swim deck lask weekend. Aside from the disapointing lose of my freshly prepaired beverage, only my pride was bruised. Since my balance is unlikely to improve, Hydro-turf might be the answer.

My question is; do you think it will hold up to to the paw abuse of a 80lb German Sheperd? She's off the boat at least once a trip and she tends to dig in a bit when i pull her back onto the swim platform. What do you guys think, any Hydro-Turf owners bring their pets along?

We have a shepherd mix, she weighs about 50 lbs and ours has held up fine.

I was also wondering the same thing. My German Shorthair Pointer is what they call a "high energy dog". Seriously. This animal only knows two speeds - dead stop or WFO. She loves to swim and when she launches off my dock after a toy she easily goes 20 ft+ and sometimes leaves scratches on the wood. I wonder how the Hydro-Turf would stand up to my mental dog. Maybe a comment from the Hydro-Turf folks themselves?

Give Mike Bonin a call at Hydro-Turf, he should be able to tell you how well it will stand up to dogs. Keep us posted on the answer he gives you.

He's just a big sucky dog anyways - no way he could hurt the Hydro Turf by sleeping on it. Katie the perpetual motion dog on the other hand............... Not so sure how well it would stand up to her using it as traction for take off.

I would think the molded might hold up better than the grooved but that is just my guess. I also think that either one would show less wear than your vinyl seats.

Good point. I'm going to order a full kit, just waiting on another guy to confirm he wants a kit too so we can split the shipping. I'll have to call and quiz them as to which style is more durable than the other (if any), but i was leaning towards the moulded diamond pattern.

Can't say we've ever had any dogs on our Challenger, but Hydro-Turf seems like a good solution. Have you tried asking customer service on what they recommend? For the dog's weight I mean.
