Hi, I'm new to the forum. Just bought a 1997 Challenger "AS IS" and the boat will start and run but when i open the throttle up it does not return when I pull the lever back. I can pull the cable back by hand on the engine. Any suggestions?

Sounds like there is something going on with the cable linkage to your throttle. Have you pulled the lever out to see what is going on underneath it?

Thanks for the repsonse. I pulled the lever out and everything looks ok and the cable doesn't appear to be broken . However when I push the throttle lever open then the throttle on the carbs open like they should. The problem is when I pull the lever back the carbs stay open. I guess my question is whether there is some kind of return spring that's not working right. Should the throttle close by itself when I pull the lever back or is there something I'm missing?
