Thanks in advance....
#1 Is the depth gage add on worth it and is it a good one, does it work well and at speed ???
#2 I have read the few speed tricks and will do those in time but I am looking for about 2 mph that is always there in the form of maybe an impeller change or hard parts somewhere. I am not a speed junki or I would have just bought the 255 boat but rather just wanting to mysteriously and consistantly be a couple of mph faster than a buddy. You know just enough to make him scratch his head !!!
#3 Is the solas impeller really worth anything on top end ????
#4 Thinking of pure synthetic oil in this non SC 155 hp. engine ??? ANY THOUGHTS ??
#5 RainX -vs- wax on the bottom ????

#2 - As a rube, I cannot offer much, but I imagine the SCIC impeller would offer a higher top end (but take longer to get there).

I just picked up a new 2008 155 hp speedster this last Thursday and we had a ball with it. It is a tender/toy when the big boat is too much to deal with. We took off for the first outing and headed up river and ran 80 miles by the time we got back to our marina and we ran off the 10 hours in just " 4 Days " as of this evening. I have 3 or 4 questions as follows.
Thanks in advance....

2 and 3) The Solas impeller does give you marginal top end improvement BUT if there is any extra clearance in the wear ring the Solas impeller is more prone to cavitation.
4) Synthetic oil is better than standard mineral oil however you should change oil every year anyway so the advantages of synthetic oil may not be worth the price long term.
5) You are kidding, right?

I had the dealer put in the depth gauge on my speedster and am quite happy. Read the latest Boating mag. about waxing the bottom it says wax not good.I just picked up a new 2008 155 hp speedster this last Thursday and we had a ball with it. #5 Sand the bottom. The rough surface captures air bubbles that let the boat ride on a tiny cusion of air.
