240 EFI Islandia............stuck in protection mode with alarm.

What are the possible sensors that will activate this alarm?

I know temp, but what else is monitored for the alarm?

Low oil levels will also trigger the alarm.

On what, the reservoir? I assume that's it?

Yeah when we had our 2000 Speedster 160 w/ the 240 EFI it would go off if the reservoir got to low.

2-Do you have the service info on how to troubleshoot the oil level switch (n.o. or n.c., resistance values, etc....)

I have an islandia stuck in protection mode and its a ways away. I am trying to be sure I can fix it on my next trip down. I am taking a temp sensor with me, but would like to be able to address/test the oil level switch (switches?) while I am there.

3-Is it only the one on the two stroke oil level?

Oil level switch is NO continuity when full, and continuity when low.

Bring a fuel/water separator with you as well, the sensor in it can set the alarm off as well.

Is there a way to test the fuel/water seperator sensor?

I'm not sure of the spec when registering water, but it would be normally open. It's just a cheap spin on filter (sensor comes with it), so I would not worry too much about testing it, just put a new one on. They are supposed to be changed once a season anyway.

One other thing. Another fellow mentioned that his low fuel alarm would put his speedster into limp mode. Must be a hull specific feature though, because my Utopia does not even have a low fuel light. Not sure if yours would have this or not. He said there was a button on his dash that he could push to turn it off............. but again I have never heard of this feature.

Is this info from the manual?

I want to verify I can short the oil level switch wires to test............................

It is out of the manual, but I am not sure about jumping the wires, as it does not give a specific resistance value, rather just that there will be resistance if low or a bad sensor.
