I use Wolverine insurance: http://www.wolverinemutual.com/
It is $185 per year for something like $7000 on the boat, plust the trailer, and another $1500 for "unattached equipment"

I guess I'm lucky. Here in MA my car insurance extends to the boat & trailer as long as I;m towing it. I could get coverage under Plymouth Rock for the boat when its on the water but for what I paid for it, probably not worth the justification since I won't get back the money I put into it.
But the loss of the boat isn't what you should be most worried about. You need some liability coverage on the water. Heaven forbid the worst happens, and somebody gets injured, you need to make sure you have your hind quarters covered.
I also have an umbrella policy in addition to all my individual policies.
I just found out there is a large marine insurance company just down the road from me: http://www.worldwidemarineins.com/
I have no idea how good they are, or their prices.

You are right about covering our behinds! Here in CA, people are sue-happy! Liability insurance is the minimum, however if you have assets to protect i.e a house(with equity??? ), money in the bank(ha-ha-ha..lol) a full coverage is advisable.
$19k agreed boat value plus $1k on the trailer:
My previous policy with Progressive ($15/30k, 1k medical) was close to $380.
AAA ($100/300k) is $300 with car and home policy discount.
Ameriprise(Costco Insurance) same coverage with AAA but through their in-house agent, Progressive, is $294.
My current policy with Boat US ($100/300k, 5k med, towing, membership fee and much more) is $230!!!!!
A little bit of research helped!
