we have an issue with our speedster 5602. the boat was bought with all the wires in the control panel disconnected. we did our best to get everything connected correctly. when we hooked the lanyard up to the dess post we got nothing, no beeps nothing. after some creative wiring we got the two beeps and the motors start and run at an idle but we can't get the rpm's up. is our problem caused by the dess, cdi box (local jetski mech told us), any help would be appreciated.

If you in fact have a 1997 twin engine (717 85 HP) Speedster then the D.E.S.S post has no control over engine RPM. If you get the two beeps and the engines start then the reason for not being able to accelerate is most likely control cable, carbs, bad fuel, or even the selector switch. We would need a lot more specifics to even hazzard a guess as to what might be limiting RPM, one thing is certain, its not the MPEM (brain box, multi processor electrical module)!
