Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a used 2003 Seadoo jet boat and am looking for some help on a few items. I think i got it at a steal too for $3500, is that a good price? I'm not new to boating at all but this will be my first boat I will have personally owned. I'm very excited about it and looking forward to the summer!
1. First off, what is the proper way to refer to my boat?!?! I know it sounds kind of weird but I can lookup a search a number of ways and just wanted to know which is the proper way to identify it. The previous owner said the boat was a 2003 Sportster. Now there is a decal on the front that also reads Bombadier (which I thought was reserved for the PWC Seadoo line). I also know there is a 4 TEC (not sure what that is either model of the same boat)... so what exactly do I have for a boat? I believe the 4TEC is the model with the 155hp negine which I know I have the 135hp model. So what do I have...
- 2003 Seadoo Sportster LE?
- 2003 Seadoo Bombadier Sportster LE?
If my research and assumptions are correct I have a 2003 Seadoo Sportster LE with a 947 Rotax 135HP engine. Can someone please tell me I'm right?
2. Where can I find manuals for this boat? I prefer to do my own maintenance and up-keep if I know how to. In order to learn that I need to be able to read something! Does anyone know where I can find an owner's manual, show manual, parts/repair manual? Even if I have to pay a few bucks I don't mind as the boat is well worth it to me.
3. Engine Care - The previous owner said the gas is a regular 2 cycle mixture correct? Anyone know what the ratio is for that mix? Also, the boat is need of a SERIOUS cleaning. What shouls I avoid getting wet in the negine compartment when cleaning it, I'd like to just Simple Green everything and powerwash it but not sure what can & cannot get wet in there.
4. Parts? - Does anyone have any good places to pick up parts if needed. I don't mind dealing with people out of state (I'm in MA) or online but want someone I can rely on and who won't jack up the prices for a "newbie".
I appreciate all the help everyone and anyone can provide. I hope to be able to give back to the forum and community as much as I can as I leanr all about the boat and up-keep. Thank you once again.

welcome to the site; sounds like you picked up a great boat at an awsome price; i recentally paid 4600 for my 2004 challenger dual 717cc rotax 2-stroke; Bombadier is the name of the parent company that makes sea-doo; ski-doo; evenrude; etc. just like chevy; buick; pontiac; GMC; etc. are all under GM. so yeah from what you described Sporster LE sounds good to me; if you can post up some pics of your boat. The "4-TEC" refers to your engine; it is a 4 stroke unlike my 2 strok engines. for different downloads of different manuals and part guides see the download section of the site
http://seadoosportboats.com/files lots of gereat info here! I can't help too much with cleaning the engine compartment but I am sure that someone else will chime in; i know from cleaning automotive engines you want to make sure that all electrical connections and basically anything dealing with the electrial system is well covered. Have fun with your new boat!
