Stiff/Sticky/Heavy Steering

I have noticed my steering is stiff and heavy at either end of the turning left or right. Since I have not had the boat out the last few weeks (Five or so) and I am getting ready to put away for winter. They were kind of stiff before but since there has been inactivity for a while now it has gotten worse. I have noticed on a friends boat that his seems much lighter to steer. Mine is stiff almost all the way through the full motion.
I wonder if I might be in for some new cables next spring.
Does that sound about right to you other guys?
What is roughly the cost for new cables?
Where can I get them on-line?
Is it an easy job?...Has anyone did it themslves?
Thanks again!!

You might also want to check you bushings in the nozzles, they have been know to seize up. I believe in the parts they call them sleeves.

you been out in the water yet? I just had Norm at Centennial do my summer service and ran into a bit of trouble, my starboard engine wouldn't run. It turned out it was the carbs, all plugged. But it's going now, but we haven't been out yet. I just got my operators card last night.
Maybe we'll see you out there, where do you usually go?
