For my wife we typically put a throw cushion, http://www.westmarin...mp;classNum=218, on top of the seat to help bolster her up some. Again not the best solution but it seems to work for the most part.

We are all in the same boat with the drivers seat. It is very uncomfortable. I bought a 7 inch seat exstension which can be purchased any marine store. But im worried about the extra height on the seat might rip thought the fiberglass base. So over the winter im going to do a couple mods and see how strong the base is. It is also hard to get at the seat nuts in the hull.I am new to the site. I have a 2008 180 challenger. I have had other boats and havent had this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions about the drivers seat and being able to see better from it? Most of the time i end up standing.

There are no nuts to worry about, a strip of aluminum runs parrallel with the runners. Each bolt is tapped in to that piece of aluminum. We have moved several seats back a few inches away from the steering wheel for our "larger" customers. The base is probably strong enough to do most anything you want. We would like to see a hydraulic lift base similar to what office chairs have. I'm sure they are made, we haven't researched it since we as a dealer couldn't install then anyway.

1- place to put the towels
2- seat boost!

I was thinking of using a half filled with air beach ball, This might work unless you 250lbs or so. You could also use it at the beach when you get thare! We have decided keeping all the folded towels on the driver seat solves 2 issues!
1- place to put the towels
2- seat boost!

I just sit on the top-right side of the back of the seat, I'm a tall guy with long reach so it works just fine.
What I do is put the Type IV cushion on the seat and then use a small boat bumper on top of that. That puts me at a (average height) good location vantage point. The bumper also provides some cushioning in choppy conditions.
