Auto Bilge pump problem

this morning as i was leaving for work i walked by the boat and i heard the bilge pump going again.
has this happened to anyone else? any suggestions?

Our 180 Challenger had a bad relay that needed to be replaced, it was running non-stop...had to disconnect the battery to prevent it from draining it.

Not that this is any consolation but the entire bilge location was fixed for the 2008 model year. The relay failure was rare this year as well. Besides the relay there is a chance that there is some trash stuck around it too. Keep in mind that turning the battery switch off does NOT keep the pump from running, you have to disconnect the battery as Kevin said until you get it fixed.

isnt the bilge pump bypassed the off battery switch? I know that trash can cause bilge pump to run all the time. This happend to my brothers boat and it drained the batteries while we where having a lunch.
I got a balloon stuck in my Bilge pump and it wouldn't turn off by itself, it's easy to clean it, the bilge pump can be removed and cleaned by sliding the latch and pulling the motor out, it only takes a minute.

THE BAD QUALITY AUTOMATIC SWITCH FOR THE BILGE PUMP IS THE ONLY CAUSE OF THAT PROBLEMS.Excuse my ignorance, but this page only talks about the switch and diode. Does it have a diode and not a relay? Are the 2007 & 2008 identical as far as the electronics for the bilge pump?
MY 2008 CHALLENGER WITH 39 HOURS HAS ALREADY A NEW BILGE PUMP BURNED FROM WORKING DRY ALL THE TIME.
I CUT THE WIRES FROM THE AUTOMATIC SWITCH AND PLACED A WATERPROOF SOCKET THAT KEEP ALL THE TIMES OPEN FOR THE PREVIOUS SEASON.THIS SEASON I LEFT FOR A WEEK THE BOAT ON THE WATER AND KEEP THE SOCKET CLOSED IN CASE OF RAIN TO DRAIN OUT THE WATER.AGAIN I HAD LOW VOLTAGE ON THE BATTERY AFTER ONE DAY.
I HAVE DECIDE NO MORE TO USE THE AUTOMATIC SWITCH AND IF YOU CUT THE WIRES FROM THE AUTO SWITCH (OR REMOVE THE 3A FUSE BELLOW THE MAIN BATTERY SWITCH) YOU CAN ALSO WORK THE BILGE PUMP WITHOUT PROBLEM MANUALLY WITH THE IN DASH SWITCH.

My 2007 150 speedster just started with the bilge pump running on and off while on trailer. Pump and float are clear of debris. So after reading numerous blogs I have decided to try to swap out the relay with a new one.
Does anybody have the part number for this relay?
Where is the location of this relay?

Here is a post that I wrote up about a drop in replacement sensor. Not expensive and easy to do. The sensors do fail over time and the replacement was easy to do. Getting into that area of the bilge is the most difficult part.
