Anyone have an idea of what is going on with my starter. When I activate it the starter will turn just fine, however it will not lift and engage the engine. It just spins. If I take a screw driver and pry it up to engage the teeth on the engine portion it will crank just fine until the engine takes over and it drops down again. If it didn't really get a good start then I have to repeat the process until it gets crankin. Is there any way to fix this without having to buy a whole new starter? Can I rebuild it? Simple fix?
Starter issues.

I am not sure about rebuilding a starter. I would think if you are having issues with it then it might be a good idea to go ahead a replace so it doesn't become a continuing battle. Have you priced how much it would be to get a new starter?

Looks like the cheapest one is around $355 which sucks. That is crazy expensive for a starter, hence me trying to find a way around buying an all new one.
