hour meter

I've got 8 hours on the boat so far and couldn't be happier with it. Well I could be happier with how fricken hard it is to handle at idle speed but I'm getting better.
I noticed on here some people were saying that they had to get the hour meter recalibrated and when they do the hours are like double or triple what was indicated? Is that right? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Can someone explain what's going on briefly or point me in the right direction?
Thanks for the info!

Hi there. Your boats got about 18-25hrs on it. Its time for the 10hrs service. Just mention the tach problem to a BRP dealer. When around the dock you have to shift from forward to neutral to reverse. Be ready for any thing.. (wind) Practice going backwards really helps. But boat can rotate in 20 feet of space.New member here. Bought an '08 challenger SE about 1 month ago. I read through all the posts here. Lots of good stuff. Its really nice having and informed dealer on the site that's willing to answer questions/help out.

MY 2008 HAS 2 HOURS ON THE GAUGE AND SEEMS THE HOURMETER TO WORK GREAT!NOW I HAVE LOW FUEL INDICATION AFTER A 70LITERS FILL UP FOR TWO HOURS BREAKING IN PERIOD.
MAYBE AFTER 5 GASOLINE FILL UPS TO CHECK IF THE GAUGE IS AROUND 10 HOURS.
IS THERE ANYONE KNOWS THE FUEL CONSUMPTION PER HOUR FOR THE CHALLENGER?AND AFTER THE LOW FUEL INDICATION HOW MANY MILES OR HOW MANY HOUR?

I don't have an hour guage to say (or a working fuel guage either ) but I would suspect that that number would very heavly upon how the boat is operated. If most of the time is spent crusing at 3/4 throttle you will get great economy; but if it is spent starting and stoping like pulling a tube or ski/wakeboard (or spinning ) then you will get much worse fuel economy.
