My 97 speedster smokes alot! It's an embarrassing amount especially at the dock when I fire it up and when travelling through no wake zones.
Someone mentioned to me that the oil injection pump may be out of sync. Does anyone know how I can check that and fix it?
I've got the right oil in it. It's the 2 stroke oil injection engines.
Thanks,
Steve

Smoking is pretty common for these boats. How are your plugs and what kind of oil are you using?

As the two strokes get older the center main seal begins to wear allowing more and more oil into the case, the advent of ethanol blend gasoline has sped up this process. Short of replacing the seals at some point I saw one enterprising customer hold up a sign "Free Mosquito Removal" every time he came to the loading ramp! By the way it is cheaper for us to replace an engine than to change the center seal on your 717 engines.
