2001 Challenger2000 - loss of power

I have recently purchased 2001 Sea Doo Challenger 2000 with Merc 240EFI engine. Took it on a lake last weekend and spent about 2 hours on the water. All of a sudden, engine lost power. At 3000 rpms I could only go at 5mph. Trying to add more throttle ends up in engine being stalled. Took few attempts to restart the engine. It restarted in 2 minutes, and I was able to return to the dock at 5mph. Reverse works fine. Low speed steering throttle control works fine as well.
Can anyone give any suggestions?
P.S. when I took it out and checked the crate and impeller, doesn't seem there is anything wrong there.

Has the impeller been replaced or is it still the OEM impeller?
Hi,
I think it's still has original impeller. But it chockes even when it's attached to a hose, so I think it might be something else.

Replace both fuel filters, sounds like the engine is starving for fuel. (try changing the plugs as step # 2).

Try what rodder said first, if that works great....but.....also check to make sure the oil day tank on the engine is full of oil. There is also a primary fuel pump that may be bad or going bad, Sugar Sand boats are famous for losing the primary pump which gives the exact same symptoms except that sometimes the boat won't restart.

I also assume fule pump is located somewhere on the engine itself, is there a diagram somewhere where I could look up location of it?
Thanks
