We usually have to set the speedometer on all of the 20 foot and up models so about every 4th boat or so we take the GPS out with us. The 200 Speedster with the 310 is usually 54 to 55 MPH, the 430 HP version is typically 63 to 64 MPH. Ironically the 2008 205 Utopia with the 430 HP package is slightly faster clocking in at 65 to 66 BUT the Utopia is a chine walking wild ride at WOT whereas the 200 Speedster feels more stable. The Islandia and 230 Challenger SE are typically 57 to 58 MPH. The 150 Speedster with the 155 HP engine is 50 to 52 MPH, with the 215 HP from 60 to 62 MPH. The 180 Challenger with the 215 HP engine is slow, the older Challenger 180 with the 185 HP engine is even slower. Keep in mind all of those speeds are with brand new boats, if the break in program wasn't in effect (215 HP only) they might be 1 or 2 MPH faster. Also no boat was run WOT for more than 30 seconds to get a reading.

I believe you are referring to the 310 hp? It just depends how much horsepower you want/need. Either boat should doo just fine. I know people with both options have been very happy it.One last question, how about the 370hp? Could this be close in top speed to the 430 hp. Cheaper option to buy used.

Anyhow, the guy who owns it can't confirm top speed. Just thought we might have someone here that has one.

Oh yes, you are correct! Sorry I thought you were referring to the new boats. The 370 HP was around and then was replaced by the 430 HP. These are the same engines, just not supercharged. Should be a great boat if you can find one!No, I mean 370hp. There's a few out there, S200s with twin 185s. Maybe 2005 was the only year they were out.

Kev, I don't mean to correct you but the 370 HP version is supercharged but NOT intercooled. Additionally they have a little bit wilder cam in them and the 155 HP sized jet drive (155 mm). As a point of interest the new 255 HP engine actually uses the same intake as the 185 HP had since the 255 HP has a remote mounted intercooler. As a used boat it would be okay, the 215 HP engine runs cooler and has the larger diameter jet drive (159 mm). Just food for thought.
