Taking on water...

I really want to love my 06 180SE... but today another strange thing... Wondering if others have had this problem... when I came off the gas, the nose of the boat of course gets lower. When I hit a few small waves while doing this - woosh!!!! in comes a TON of water! A TON! This happened 3 or 4 times when we were tubing. Thought it was cause someone was sitting up front... so I moved them to the back and same thing happened a few more times. I adjusted my stopping... but when pulling up wakeboarders and trying not to run them over after they fall, the last thing I want to do is also have to remember to stay on the gas so I don't get flooded. By the end of tubing/wakeboarding the ENTIRE floor was wet and in certain areas there was about 1.5 inches deep of water.
This is the first time I ever experienced this in a boat. Is this common???

The bow of the boat sits fairly low so it is bound to happen from time to time depending on water conditions. I think it really depends on how you take on the wake if water will come over the bow. While at lower speeds and conditions are choppy like this I try to hit the wake more sideways than head-on to prevent it.

This has happened to us a couple of times already. Normally happens to us when coming into a no wake zone, first time it happened the passengers up front got quite a surprise!

I agree with Kevin, you almost have to turn the 180 45 degrees to the wave to keep it from splashing in. Unfortunately that is one of the compromises to getting the room of a 20 footer in the hull of an 18 footer.

Just make sure you never hit the wave head on! I just watch and turn! Problem solved for me!

If you go to you tube and watch boat test on sea doo challenger 180se, It just funny because when they open ski locker it has water in the bottom of it. haha! Thats what everybodys talking about!I have avoided this drenching the whole season. I don't believe it has happened to me once this summer.

The hull drainage was improved in the 2008 180 and completely redesigned along with the hull in the 2009 model. We'll see......

Solved the problem once and for all, listen to this....take a look at the electric pump into the hull....it is so badly located that it basically serve for nothing...!!!
I removed it from it stock location that was up on that fiberglass bump....relocated it right in the V of the hull right between the front of the engine and the fuel tank....you have to shorten the draining tube quite a bit and redo the wiring harness for it to be longer too....now i never have an once of water staying in my hull or locker compartment in the floor...!!! As soon as water comes in it is pumped out right away...!!! It was simply just badly located up there in the back.
I strongly suggest that mod...boat will stay dryer now...!
