begining to think SeeDoo boats are junk. Bought my Sportster LI in 2005 (it was a new 2004 model) figuring I'll take care of it & it will not cause me any problems. WRONG !!
In October, I have my dealer winterize it & tune it up so in the spring I just have to put her in the water. Two of the last 3 years I've run into the same problem. It starts ok but when I give her some gas she sputters & bucks. Run it at the lowest speed around the lake two or three times then I can gradually start giving her more gas until finally she runs alright for that day. Next day same thing. I run it through 3 or 4 full tanks of gas so I know it's not stale s from the winter months. She starts right up so I know that's not a problem.
Oh well I gotta go pull her out of the water & bring her back to the dealer. As soon as I can I'm getting rid of it & getting a real boat.
For sale???

i bought a used 2004 le di this spring for $6900 thinking i got a pretty good deal as well. my boat fires right up and runs 53 mph top end but after a while the rpms drop down to about 5000 grand and the boat seams to bog down. i then shut off the engine, let it sit for a minute or so and it then runs good again. what has your dealer done for work on your boat? fuel filter? plugs? supposedly these things have a computer in them that the dealer plugs into. i wish i could give you more advice but i am myself thinking of bringing mine to the dealer.

Im thinking its just your boat or your dealer. Personally any boat is going to be a money pit, so if you can't afford it, don't buy it. Plus its not the company SEADOO you should be mad at, maybe the motor company that you should be mad at. So don't expect to go and buy another boat and not have to spend money on it, cause if you do your always going to be dissappointed.
Give us me details on what is wrong and maybe we can help you out in fixing it

This is a copy of a post I just placed in another forum.....
"There is an interesting situation with the LE DI engine when it is installed in the Sportster body. The spark knock sensor will put the boat into limp home mode if the boat is run at 4,500 to 5,000 RPMs for even a little while. Once fix is to add a washer under the sensor, that may help keep the computer from thinking it needs to kick the boat into limp home mode. The other thing we have done at Seadoo's request is replace the computer with one from a personal watercraft. Unfortunately the boat will then go to full RPMs in neutral because the PWC computer doesn't have a neutral limit RPM. The bottom line is that the LE DI engine seems to like full throttle or idle, not much in between."
You are correct in that the boat can be hooked up and diagnostics run on the engine. The LE DI engine was and still is more "computer literate" than any other 2 stroke except for maybe the Evinrude E-TEC or Mercury Optimax. The conditions you describe are very difficult to diagnose over the internet, it sounds like more is going on that what I talked about above. Get a readout on the engine and see what faults are occurring or have occurred. That is the first step to finding out the real truth about the engine. With respect to the quality of a Seadoo is ranked the highest in terms of initial sales, short and long term customer satisfation, and low number of warranty services performed per unit. This rating is not just against Sugar Sand and Yamaha but other mass produced boats such as Chapparal and Sea Ray. In other words the grass is probably NOT greener on the other side of the ole boat hill!
