Tiggerman, I was just reading about your retofit. sorry it didn't work out...yet. You mentioned that you realigned your engines and this made the carbon/ss ring seal tighter. Just was wondering how you know when the engines are perfectly aligned for the best seal. You said that your engines just fell into place when you loosened the motor mounts. Is that typical without the retrofit? Like yours, my boat leaks just a bit, and of course the cavitation. Thanks much.
align the engines?

Don't know if it is typical or not, but with the carriers in their stiff hoses, when I loosened the mounts the motor more or less moved around on the mount. Now, with the carrier off, the shaft protector off, driveshaft in, I can look up thru the hull and "eyeball" the alignment of the shaft thru the hole. When I put the carbon rings back on, they were alot straighter than before. They seal much better too, so.....
I imagine if you loosen the clamp that holds the bellows to the thru hull fitting, and slide the hose forward just a bit, you will see a better seal than now. You can tweak the hose on the fiting to make the carbon ring run flatter on the ss ring.
I wouldn't recommend loosening the engine mounts unless you think your alignment is WAY off.... try tweaking the hose first.
